Faculty Development Workshops
As
more programs developed, there grew an increasing demand for more instructors,
not only in Textile/Surface Design but in the entire school of Art and
Design as well as Business and Technology with the ability to teach CAD
and other business applications. I welcomed the opportunity to share
my enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject with
my peers. In conjunction with Desiree Koslin of The Center for Excellence
in Teaching, I developed and conducted Faculty Development workshops
offered to the FIT community in U4ia, Tex Design, Fashion Studio, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Power Point to help satisfy
this need.
Continuing Education
Seminars
The industry itself also had a tremendous need to learn these types of CAD programs. Designers who have been out working,
needed to be “re-tooled”. Together with Joan Volpe and my good friend Ray Kinlock,
we assembled a lab of 10 workstations,
complete with Industry-specific software and launched
specialized seminar programs in CAD for the Office of Professional Training at FIT in 1999. I have taught various sessions
of SX224-"CAD Basics" and SX234-"Portfolio Upgrade with CAD"
Most recently, I assisted in developing a Certificate program in Product Development
Essentials. One of the five week sessions in which I taught is entitled SXP100- "Design
and Product Development Technology Made Easy"
